About This Game Just updated! Welcome to the Museum's Second Floor!See new sculptures, ride the elevator, check out the Café, and enjoy the new Water Lilies exhibition.Welcome to The VR Museum of Fine Art, Steam's finest art gallery.Depending on who you ask, of course. If you've been training to be a space pirate and building fantastical contraptions all day, the Museum is your ticket to a well-deserved break. Surround yourself with 1:1 scale sculptures and paintings, and we won't tell anybody if you touch the merchandise! No rope barriers or glass walls here. Feel free to explore the artwork however you see fit. Roomscale VR lets you walk around, duck under, and even hug the life-sized figures. The initial release of The VR Museum includes 15 high-fidelity sculptures, and more are coming. In addition, two famous paintings are included, scanned and rendered in crisp detail. In future releases, both collections of sculpture and paintings are sure to expand. The artwork is arranged thoughtfully into four exhibits, each with its own theme. If you ever actually feel like learning something, informative holographic plaques are placed next to each piece of art. That does involve reading, though, and that's a lot of work.Tickets are free, drinks are temporarily non-existent, and the artwork is pristine. The terracotta soldiers were impressive. I can imagine with more exhibits this would be like 'Night at the Museum'. Well worth the download.. Nothing too bad about it other than the lack of art pieces - one of the paintings is superb but half of them have poor resolution.Tip: you need to point to the floor to teleport - at first I thought it wasn’t working with the Oculus Touch but it is not the case.Still recommending as it is free to experience.. Cool free experience. The concept is fresh and interesting, the execution is well done. Unfortunately, not so long as I wish but still worth attention.. A great collection of sculpture scans that are very high quality. I've always wonder how big the terracotta army figures are. One sculpture was on the cover of my Latin book in high school, so it's amazing to finally come face to face with it. Lots of well-known touchstones and a massive outdoor statue. This is a collection that would be very difficult to see IRL because they reside in so many different locations. The upper floor was just added. It's got some interesting sculptures too. The new paintings are a big letdown despite being able to understand their scale. They have a repeating canvas pattern specular highlight, but topographically have no relation to the painting. I know it would be incredibly difficult to scan accurately, but I feel like without that element they're not worth displaying. Seeing some of Van Gogh's work in person completely changed my perspective on them and flat versions completely misrepresent them. But, you can't beat free, and in fact you should probably donate a few dollars so they can continue to expand this awesome project.. The idea is very interesting, I'd love a virtual museum in which to see famouse works of art and being able to get really close and in the comfort of home; however, this demo lacks in content (but this is understandable since it's free) and quality: the 3d models of the artworks are not that great, most are really low resolution and from what I can recall from some things I have seen IRL the scale of the statues is not really portrayed realistically.VR would be an excellent medium for this type of content: imagine an Art History class about classic statues and being able to look at them in 3D closely, moving around them (also, some statues are on a pedestal, I don't see the point, bring them down so one can inspect them more carefully!), I hope this kind of projects get expanded. Very well done and another educational application for VR. That it's free is amazing. Thanks for this!. Very good. Let my parents see art they would otherwise never get the chance to.. The idea of the game is great, but it the execution could be much better. It’s free, so it’s hard to criticize it, but still… The concept itself shows that virtual reality can be more than inspiring, but the sculptures are detailed if you’re standing close to them. Take a few steps from it, and you’ll see nothing but silhouettes. I recommend to try it just because it’s interesting experience
